EXPLANATION OF SYSTEM TOPOLOGY
The RI-MDU10 gets data from meters through Ethernet slave devices which function as Modbus masters (RI-EX20). The Ethernet port on RI-MDU10 functions as a network router and has DHCP enabled. All traffic on Ethernet network is encrypted.
Up to 8 Ethernet devices are supported and every Ethernet device has its own Modbus network with slaves which have independent addressing. Eg. there can be two Modbus slaves with address 1. All end slaves are addressed from 1 to 16. The RI-MDU10 has RS-232 or RS-485 ports with Modbus RTU slave function allowing other systems like BMS or
rayleighconnect™ (Online) to access the data.
